Outdoor Black and White Family Portraits

This is a beautiful location, and I have photographed my fair share of families and senior portraits here. Prior to this family portrait session, we had a lot of rain. In fact, this was about two weeks after the Colorado floods – so all of the colors were bold and saturated. The grass was lush and green, and the sky was super blue and partially concealed by the broken, abstract cloud cover that gave it so much drama.So, why black and white family portraits instead of color in such a beautiful outdoor setting? Football Portraits in Erie Colorado

In my book, anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

This series of football portraits was originally designed to be a Mini Session. Mini sessions are meant to be 20 to 30 minutes long and produce about 15 to 20 images, well… we blew that right out of the water. We were having such a great time that nearly 2 hours went by before we noticed! We also wound up producing a few more than 15 to 20 images.

This collection of Football Portraits was a lot of fun to make!

Photographing these Mini Sports Sessions has turned out to be a great little project for me. I have a lot of fun, but, most of all, the kids have a blast! It’s their chance to be treated and photographed like  superstars.

Senior pictures in Denver, Colorado {Tim Sutherland Photography | Erie Colorado}

An urban Senior Portrait Session with Kylie

300 sunny days a year in Denver, Colorado…but this day was not one of them. In fact, it was pouring! We spent about an hour shooting Kylie’s senior pictures in and around the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. We got some great shots while waiting for the storm to pass. We could have stopped then, and would have had everything we needed. As a matter of fact, she even chose one of the indoor shots as her yearbook photo. Done, right? Wrong.

It Must be Football Season (High School Football Portraits in Erie Colorado)

Photographing people doing what they love to do is what I love to do. Whether its football, baseball or chess, I love photographing people doing what they are passionate about. So I was totally psyched when Angelo took me up on my offer to do a session of high school football portraits in studio. Angelo asked that the football portraits have that high contrast, edgy look with dramatic lighting, like he seen in some of my other sports portraits. He loved them and it was a great addition to his senior portrait album.

Angelo’s father is an artist when it comes to restoring old cars and motorcycles. He showed me some pictures of some of his work and it is out of this world. I’m excited to set up a father/son shoot with the bikes and maybe some restored cars as a Lifestyle Portrait Session. Stay tuned…
